Bangkok, Thailand's capital, is a huge metropolis with magnificent shrines and bustling streets. The Chao Phraya River, which is brimming with boats, feeds the Rattanakosin royal area, which is home to the sumptuous Grand Palace and the revered Wat Phra Kaew Temple. Wat Pho Temple, with a large reclining Buddha, is nearby, as is Wat Arun Temple, with its steep steps and Khmer-style spire on the opposite coast.
