Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became the capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. Today, it remains a Tibetan Buddhist center and a base for hikers organizing permits and transport for treks through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges

This morning, depart for a half-day trek to Tsomgo Lake (12400 feet), which is approximately 32 kilometres from Gangtok City. Tsomgo Lake is about 1 kilometre long and 15 metres deep. Locals consider the lake sacred, and 12 kilometres away lies the Baba Harvajan Singh Mandir (New). Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Stopover in Gangtok for the night

Check out of your resort and begin your Gangtok city tour, which will take you to the Bonjhakri Waterfalls, the Flower Show, the Handicraft Center, the Institute of Tibetology (which is closed on Sunday), and Dro-dul-Chorten. Drive to Pelling (6800 feet / 132 kilometres) after lunch. Check into your hotel upon arrival. Pelling is where we'll spend the night.

Visit Tiger Hill (sunrise point over Mt. Khanchendzongna) around 4 a.m., subject to permit availability, and Ghoom Monastery on the way back. After breakfast, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the P.N. Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), Tenzing Rock, the Tea Garden (outside view), Pace Pagoda, Japanese Temple, and the Rope Way (Ticket Guest Own). Return to the hotel in the afternoon and walk to the famous mall road to do some shopping. Darjeeling is where we will spend the night.
